Another of the weekly Scarborough Spa Express steam services runs into platform 4 at York railway station this morning, with a group of photographers (to the left of the locomotive) there to record it's arrival.
The brightly coloured clothing of one of the photographers was rather distracting, which is why I converted the shot to B&W, and I was rather pleased with the result.
Fav. Looks great in b&w. I like all the reflections on the body of the engine. Would love to go on one of these some day. Once we took a steam-train ride up to Mount Snowdon but the steam trains weren't working and the service used diesel engines instead.
Thank you for all your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
Railway photographers appear to be a very affluent breed, judging by their cameras and lenses. There was some very impressive kit on display when I took this shot.
We are very fortunate in the UK to see so much steam at work, with trains on the main line, numerous preserved railways, and as Dione mentioned, a steam mountain railway in Wales.
