Alice in Sand by fishers

Alice in Sand

Another shot from the archive, this time taken in November 2018 in St Mary's Church, Beverley, and another artistic interpretation of Alice in Wonderland.

This sand sculpture was created from 5 tonnes of sand by Remy and Paul Haggard, and it took a week to create.

St Mary’s Church is famous for its stone carving of the Pilgrim hare. When the writer Lewis Carrol stayed in the Beverley Arms hotel he visited the church. The stone sculpture, next to a door, inspired the character of the white rabbit in his story of Alice in Wonderland. The sand sculpture depicts giant Alice looking into the door with the pilgrim rabbit carving beside it.

Wow! Just amazing and made in sand! Sand is soft to work on but making something like this needs a lot of skill to keep it standing in one piece. Fav.

Wonderful. There is a sand sculpture exhibition every year in Victoria, but I guess it will be missing this year. Sand sculptors are so talented.
