This is another building from the fairy house trail along the banks of the River Foss in York. This time the building is firmly based in reality rather than being an imaginary creation. It is a model of the Black Horse pub in Monkgate, York.
The Black Horse pub is a grade II listed building. The listing describes it as ‘built in 1897. It was designed by WG Penty for John Hunt's Brewery. It consists of red brick in Flemish bond with painted stone dressings and a plain tile roof.’ It is one of the most attractive buildings in Monkgate.
No, I haven't been in, but someone I used to work with is a regular visitor. There is a nice little beer garden at the side, with a quite impressive mural on the wall. It is on my list of things to photograph.
Thank you for your lovely comments on the Fairy Pub. Ian will enjoy reading them later today.

Thank you Vesna - I like to go and see these quite often, because the trail is always changing.
