Bears of Sheffield is a fund raising event to raise money for Sheffield Childrens Hospital.
There are some 100 small bears and 60 large bears each painted in a different colour scheme scattered around Sheffield city centre, and there is a trail leaflet to follow to find where they are.
This follows a successful Elephant trail in 2016 which raised substantial sums of money towards new facilities at the Childrens Hospital.
I haven't seen any of this years trail, but Katharine has taken shots when she has been going to visit her dad. She is there visiting today, so hopefully there will be more shots to come.
The bears are on display around the city until the end of this month, after which there will be a display of them all together in Meadowhall Shopping Centre from 14th to 17th October, and after that there will be a grand auction of all 60 larger bears on 18th October in the Crucible Theatre. The auction event raised some £400,000 at the end of the Elephants trail, so the fundraisers are hoping for at least as much this time.
What a super idea. They're are so appealing. They had a similar display of large bears placed around the streets in Berlin a few years back. They had miniature replica bears for sale in the shops and I thought I might buy one, but at £60 each I didn't feel I could justify it for an ornament. It wasn't going to charity! I hope the Sheffield scheme is successful again.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
It will be interesting to see how well the auction of the large bears does next month.

They are quite fun!

They seem very popular, so I would expect it to be.
