Bee Friendly Shop Front by fishers

Bee Friendly Shop Front

For a number of years there have been empty shops in York, despite it being a busy centre for visitors. Various attempts have been made to use the empty shops in a positive way, most notably before Christmas last year when illustrations of childrens stories were created in the windows of the closed Debenhams shop.

Here, in a relatively small empty shop in Coppergate Walk, a display about bees has been created. Until recently it was complemented by bee themed umbrellas hanging across Coppergate Walk ( https://365project.org/fishers/365/2021-09-04 ). I thought it made an eye catching display.

Great idea. It looks so much better than the depressing empty shop fronts.

Lovely use of space. I like the pop of orange. I belong to a bumble bee watch site that is tracking bees.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and fav, they are very much appreciated.

Our town centres are changing rapidly, with more places providing experiences rather than shopping opportunities, and while some shops remain empty, this bee shop seems a good thing to do.

Thank you Monica - it is good to see empty shops being used for something positive like this!
