Rose Bud by fishers

Rose Bud

This shot was taken on Tuesday after our walk to the Homstead Park, and shows one of several rose buds on the rose bushes in our front garden. The bud has since opened a little more, but more severe weather with lower temperatures and a mix of sleet and snow have left it looking rather battered.

It does show just how much warmer than usual it has been over the last two months.

This is so beautiful. I have one bud left on my rose bush but don't think it will open out now.

Delightful capture. I don't know if this is due to climate change but my roses do not have buds yet even if our weather is warmer.

The swings in temperature and weather really cause confusion... there are flowers like primroses out here which normally aren't seen until march!

Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.

Sadly, this bud did not fully open with a combination of low temperatures, rain and snow defeating it. Still, it was a nice sight at the start of the year, and hopefully there will be many more buds in the spring.

@craftymeg

Thank you Margaret - it always used to be remarkable to have roses in the lead up to Christmas, but we still have some trying to flower.
