In addition to the Christmas lights in York, the four main entrances to the medieval city carry a net of white winter lights. So what's the difference? These lights stay on the medieval entrances until early in March, when winter formally ends. They provide a little cheerful brightness after the Christmas lights have gone - although if you look through the arch some Christmas lights are still there and switched on.
In times of we have to lower the energy consumption this looks overdone,, Gladly I have n`t pay the bill. I think without the entrance looks nice itself.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
These winter lights are just one example of features around the city to attract visitors. the 'Reunion' light art in the previous photo is another example. York is a major tourist centre, with a constantly changing series of attractions to encourage them to visit, and revisit. As residents of York, Katharine and I are fortunate to be able to enjoy these displays.
