Three ice sculptures for you today, showing three people with links to York.
On the left is an ice sculpture of the highwayman known as Dick Turpin and his horse Black Bess, whose long career of crime was ended when he was executed in York. He is often romanticised, but that wasn't the reality of his lifestyle.
In the centre is an ice sculpture of Anne Lister, an English diarist, famous for revelations for which she was dubbed 'the first modern lesbian'. She and her partner Ann Walker took communion together at Holy Trinity Church in York and considered themselves married from that time on. The events recordered in her diary have featured recently in the TV series Gentleman Jack.
The right hand ice sculpture is of Guy Fawkes, one of the members of a plot to blow up Parliament and kill the King who would be there at the time of the explosion. The plot was discovered and the participants captured and executed. Guy Fawkes was born in York and baptised at St Michael le Belfrey Church in the city centre.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
I hope you have enjoted this series of some of the highlights of the York Ice Trail. It is one of my favourite events of the York entertainment calendar.
The tv series is based on her diaries, which were written in code, but later decoded. They were originally considered fiction, but are now believed to be true.

I suspect a different Anne Walker - or a time traveller!
