This friendly little character joined us when we stopped for a short break in St Anthony's Gardens during our tour of the Ice Trail last Saturday in York. The gardens are an attractive but quiet part of York. Apart from Katharine and I, the only other people there were a wedding photographer and young couple who were discussing wedding photos for their big day.
I suspect that the robin had spotted our snacks and wanted to taste samples. It was quite remarkable how tame it was. Perhaps some of those who regularly lunch there and have shared their food with the robin have made him this tame.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
This robin is a bit on the fat side, probably because he was so ready to approach visitors to the gardens to be fed. He was certainly much less frightened of people than most local robins are.

Thank you all, these are indeed cute birds, but very territorial.
