C3PO and R2D2 are not only the best of robotic friends, but they're two halves of a whole - in their intelligence. Also, R2D2 is half the size of his taller, much slimmer C3PO.
I do love their relationship, as it reminds me of the slap-stick mateship between Laural and Hardy.
