Down memory lane

My first camera. An Edinex 1 from the mid 1950s that was a gift from my paternal grandfather when I started grammar school. He was an old boy of the same school and was quite proud that I'd followed in his footsteps. I used it on numerous biology field trips, and was quite lucky because our biology teachers were both keen photographers who taught me how to develop my own film (we had our own darkroom).
It still works perfectly, but I haven't run a roll of film through it for about forty years.

There's quite a bit of info about these cameras here:
Nice looking camera. It would be good to see the results if you did use it.

Thank you, Susan. :-)
I get tempted every now and then to buy a roll of film to run through it, but never quite get round to it.

Nice photo of the camera

What a treasure- both in your own personal development with this camera and the connection to your grandfather. Those aspects are priceless. You've honored both the instrument and its history very nicely in this shot.

Great piece of history - and reflection of the things that influence us to be who we are :)
Although I am thankful I live in the digital age - as I would waste rolls of film to get my photo.....

Nice bit of kit. It's nice to have objects that bring back good memories.

Nice Camera there. About 5 years ago I went through a film stage and bought a lot of expired film AND learned how to develop the negatives at home using a solution that had coffee in it (instant). It really produced interesting shots. Have you ever tried the coffee developer?

Wow interesting story behind the shot. The camera looks heavy is it?

It's really small and light, Chris. It was a perfect fit for me at 11, before I started growing these bass player hands. ;-)

@fluidsculpture I'm not sure about bass player hands Paul LOL but I'm guessing you out grew the camera :)
