Please stop! I'm using my words!

This poor kookaburra was being constantly attacked by these 2 willy wagtails. They launched a combined attack with one distracting and the other attacking. The kookaburra just sat most of the time, occasionally squawking or opening that sharp beak if they came near his head. See another shot of the attack here - http://365project.org/flyrobin/alternatives/2014-08-29
Wow...what an amazing action scene you captured here. Perfect title too.

Terrific capture and what brave little wagtails!

Great capture Robyn. Wagtails are so hard to catch in flight..
I don't know why but all birds seem to dislike Kookaburras and they all give them curry. Fav

The kookaburra is know to eat the babies of other bird species. They could have been protecting their nest. Great capture.

The kookaburra may have been outnumbered but the wagtails were out-muscled I think. Maybe they had something to protect? Fav anyway, its a brilliant shot!

@denisedaly @thresheg @judithdeacon @terryliv @quietpurplehaze @sangwann @overalvandaan @nanm @onewing @pusspup @888rachel @seattlite @gigiflower @elaine55 @lwain @edie @crescentmoon86 @lynnz @joeyc @yrhenwr @tracelee @sumaang Thanks for the wonderful comments and favs. I suspect the willy wagtails were planning a nest there, but didn't see any signs of one already established. They continued their attack even when the kookaburra moved to another branch - long enough for me to get about 100 shots - mostly in full manual
