All Saints Church, Atlanta by fotoblah

All Saints Church, Atlanta

HDR used to make the hanging lights not look like 2 miniature suns.

Yesterday Daryl (@darylo) and I did a photowalk in Atlanta, GA. She's a native, I'm in town for a month. We had fun. We both survived eating at The Varsity, an institution known as much for heartburn as its food. Luck was on our side in finding All Saints church without a service in progress and unlocked. The day before had heavy rain from the tropical storm, but left in time for an all blue sky Sunday. That made for pleasant walking with cameras in the city's oldest cemetery.

i saw daryl's photo yesterday, interesting to see the two approaches to the same subject.

Great roof shot. My guess is that this is a rather dark and overpowering church. Quite beautiful detail though.

Cool symmetry. In this case, it looks like the hdr approach did what it's supposed to do (and not turn everything into a cartoon).

Nice symmetry and colors!

@kali66 That makes 2 of us who were interested in the difference approaches. Thanks.

@helenhall The unlit or low lit parts of the ceiling were dark. I would have needed a tripod even if not shooting HDR. Thanks.

@sketch2 My ideal HDR is one that the HDR fans say isn't HDR and others say they weren't aware of subtle HDR, Thanks.
