mystery

Actually, the mystery might be why anyone would color their hair purple, as this photo is not overwhelmingly mysterious. It is dual-purpose, since this week's dogwood challenge was to practice portrait lighting. This is with window light (and was almost 3 stops under camera choice when focusing on old broken tripod. still seems just a hair overexposed.) and is supposed to be Rembrandt lighting.
interesting, it brings out a lot of character in your face. would make a moody black and white

I say this is a good start. I like the way your face is shadowed.

The Rembrandt triangle is there as is the strong connection between subject and viewer, very well done.

I look spectacular on black and I think you have been a pretty good job of getting the lighting just write too! I guess I'll have to go read up on what Rembrandt lighting is.

Well done - I gave up on trying out the lighting techniques with self portraits. Far too challenging for me. You succeeded well.

hey Francoise - we are get pushed partners.....I really enjoyed the challenge Joan set for me and wondered if you would like it too - a triptych. Find two shots of the same thing in you project and take a shot this week of the same thing. This to show how even photographing the same thing the picture changes.

btw I think it is a great portrait - and I have had purple hair on more than one occasion :)

Nice work with the lighting, you’ve done very well with self portrait!

I think you did well and Mr. R would approve. As for purple hair, well, I'll ask my friend Stephanie- she just put purple streaks in her hair much to her 23 year old daughter's embarrassment!
