Outing to the Rocks by francoise

Outing to the Rocks

Mr. Pig here. I headed out with the squealers, intending to take them all the way to Crater Lake. But we saw the Rock Pile, which is just at the head of the trail, and ended up playing there all afternoon. The squealers are getting more coordinated by the minute. I have no idea how they managed to scamper around on the rocks the way they did. I kept a close eye on them though, since I could tell that they really wanted to scale the tallest rock. That one has a curved slippery surface and a huge drop-off in the back. They were good about not climbing it.

I thought Crystal would be happy that I had taken such care, but when she heard about the rocks they did climb, she had to sit down. She turned quite pale. She didn't scold me, though, perhaps because the squealers were home safe and were so happy about their adventure ... and so tired! Right after supper, all three of them went straight to sleep and didn't wake up until the next morning. Now, that makes for a happy mother.
Sometimes it's hard for a mom to let go a little but children need to have opportunities to grow and learn and make their own decisions. Sounds like to me you did just that on the rock pile and got a cute family shot as well.

"I thought Crystal would be happy that I had taken such care" :) such different level of care, compared to Crystal :) typical difference of mom and dad :)

Fresh air and a good rock pile to climb (with proper supervision) are good for kids. Big thumbs up!
