Not every pretty rock can be dragged home for some are much too heavy.
So, I think "gnomic" means "short cryptic statement that sounds like it's wise, but is probably sententious nonsense." At least, that's my working definition.

I think you must be writing gnomic verse here. I like the rock - just exactly where it is - matching the colours of its surroundings and with some lovely framing introduced by the photographer.
