Photo is from yesterday morning as today again was spent in laundry room continuing the attempt to make order out of chaos. I did take a(n unsatisfactory) photo of a little chick that I found standing in the middle of the hen house while three hens still sat on their nests in setting stupors. Later, in the middle of dinner, it suddenly occurred to me that the babe might need water and food in formats not currently available in the hen house. So I rushed out to procure some chick feed before the feed store closed. Joe, who is travelling, further instructed that the babe be brought into the house and put under a lamp. The chick was indeed quite shivery and had lost most of its afternoon vigor. It allowed me to pick him up repeatedly and dunk his little beak in the water. But now, under the influence of both heat and a few drops of water, he (she?) is peeping away and tries to peck me if I put my hand in. He’s also strong enough to run around the cardboard box. The photo doesn’t show the little peepie, but at least it’s a bird!
