Big revelations of today's walks, of which there were many since we are on vacation: 1. One can only write when alone. 2. One is rarely alone on vacation. 3. I miss my mother, who came here regularly and would have enjoyed many of the small changes on the island -- like the new bike route to downtown or the new farmer's market. 4. When in doubt, one can do things one's mother did, like send postcards to friends (making sure to spend some time alone so they can get written). And 5. When in doubt but in company (and hence deprived of the ability to write), clowning around is always a good bet.
Enjoy your vacation even if you don't get alone time to write. Clowning around is good when you are on vacation and so are the pictures that come from that
