From the same dubious internet sources that convey scientific facts such as "57 degrees F is the optimal temperature for happiness," I learned that if you want to encourage yourself to do something, making it 20 seconds easier to get started makes a huge difference. For example, suppose you want to go running in the morning. The 20 second rule would have you put your running shoes right in front of the chair where you drink your morning coffee. Not having to take the 20 seconds required to walk across the room to get the shoes is supposed to translate into a huge percentage increase in the chances you will actually go running. So. I thought I might apply this concept this morning to an interesting puzzle. I was going to take a morning dog walk with Maia. I have noticed that, when I am with other people, I rarely stop to take any pictures. I feel shy, somehow, or perhaps I am just too busy talking. So, instead of carrying my camera in the bag, I left the bag at home and carried the camera over my shoulder. And, sure enough! I didn't take many pictures, but four is definitely more than zero. Above is one of the pictures I took.
I really like your "factoids" in your description and I love the way the flowers on the stem here are arranged in a spiral; never seen that plant before.
@roachling Spiranthes cernua is the official name. We call them "nodding lady braids" I had known the name, but never noticed the spiral until I took this picture.
