Golden branches by fueast

Golden branches

Thats twice this week I've had to post flowers... its got to stop. Hoping to get out of the park this weekend! Better day at work mind you now marking is done. My PhD student has been selected to present his work at the house of commons. Good for him. Wonder if any MPs will turn up...
yes it needs to stop!! Mind you I took a pic of some clover today......but these yellow wispy things are very pretty anyway!

February 6th, 2013
@nicoleterheide Its a witch hazel or hamamelis

Please don't stop, when all I see is melting snow, well, at least it is melting. I love seeing the colors.

I like your flowers!

that's so funny -- that's the way I feel about barns... but, this is lovely.

What a beautiful tree. I love flower shots. They are so nice to see on a cloudy gray day.

Such beautiful flowers - lovely tones and light
February 6th, 2013
You manage to make it briliant. Love the light and shadow here.

Great shot

Has a sort of dream like errie feel to this. Lovely.
February 6th, 2013
Such an interesting tree.

February 6th, 2013
Lovely.. I resorted to a flower today also.
February 6th, 2013

It is nice to see flowers in the dead of winter. Beautiful tree, and blooms!
February 6th, 2013
I like this one better. a good reminder that Spring will come. Hooray for your PhD student
February 6th, 2013
Beautiful color, arranged nicely with those three big branches dividing it into sectors.
February 6th, 2013
Well it makes a change and I like it! Did you have any repercussions from your students who you refused permission to sign the register? Good on you by the way. Peter said you should have closed the register after the FIRST 15 minutes!

Nothing wrong with flowers, they often save the day for me! and this which hazel is well worth photographing, lovely shot, gorgeous colours, and congrats on your student being selected, you must both be very proud.
February 6th, 2013
@busylady Difficult when in theory there's 120 of them to sign. Actually I don't care whether or not they come but I am obliged to pass a register. Id rather they stayed in bed than disrupted me. Locking the doors has health and safety risks apparently!

This isn't a flower it's a tree. And I've been photographing the scruffy witch hazel on the corner near our house practically every walk as I love it. Glad I didn't post my inferior example - that one is a beauty.
February 6th, 2013
@judithg OK well strictly speaking then the last one was a tree too!
February 6th, 2013
Vee
That's a beautiful tree!
February 6th, 2013
Love this... yellow leaves have always been my favorite.
February 6th, 2013
I think you rock at flowers, although not your first choice of subject matter! You made it look stunning.
February 6th, 2013
This is beautiful .... I like the colours as well :)
February 6th, 2013
That's a great shot though...but clearly we cannot have you post flowers twice a week ;-)
February 6th, 2013
Nice focusing.

Is Spring popping out over there? Nice shot of yellow for this time of year. We are looking at another big snowstorm this weekend unfortunately. It will bury the sprouted daffodils!
February 6th, 2013
Lovely light and shadow, pretty color, too! It's nice to see something other than brown.
February 6th, 2013
Fabulous colors in this image. The gold just glows. Beautiful!
February 6th, 2013
Pretty shot. Congrats to your PhD student.

February 7th, 2013
Beautiful.
February 7th, 2013
It's absolutely gorgeous, especially with the gold popping out from the very dark background. What is the background?
February 7th, 2013

February 7th, 2013
That is so amazing!! I love the yellow, it is gorgeous :)
February 7th, 2013
Wonderful photo. My witch hazel is blooming right now too (in the Pacific Northwest in US). Fun to imagine that we have such similar climates. Also fun for me to see what my little plant will look like when it grows.

February 7th, 2013
Just off to have a word with our witch hazel and it's paltry blossom offerings :)
February 7th, 2013
@fannyb Yes isn't she! @judithg
February 7th, 2013
Stunning depth..and its lovely to see some colour ...
February 7th, 2013
I have been 'flower free' since Sunday now..... although I have to confess I do like a bit of floral photography, I find it very soothing to lose myself in a plant! Never seen witch hazel in it's natural state before, good that you can still take a photo even when so crazily busy as you are!
February 7th, 2013
We need to see some lovely gold like this. Beautiful blossom or flowers, love the bark against them.
February 7th, 2013
