102-263 European Grey Wolf

Known as ‘Jax’ and the only male wolf at the Scottish Highland Wildlife Park. The European Grey Wolf was resident in the UK until it became extinct in the mid 1700’s.
A wonderful portrait. I love the way he seems to look you straight in the eye.

What lens did your shoot with this ? What are your favourites for the Fuji. I’ve got the 35mm 1.4, 50mm f2 , 10-24mm and 50-230, and I’ve got Gear acquisition syndrome ... wondering what to add next!!!

@carvl This was shot with the 100-400 zoom lens at about 300mm. As for my favourite I do not have one just the right lens for the task at hand.
Fixed focus lens are ideal when you have a particular job in hand and I would choose the lens for the occasion.
If I am travelling or the shoot requires a variation in focal length I will use zoom lens. I have the 10-24mm like you along with the 16-55mm f2.8, 50-140mm f2.8 and the 100-400.
Have you tried any work using flash?

@fujiguy no I did some at a photo club one time and I think I’m more of a natural light person :) I’m going travelling round Europe in the summer so I was thinking about the 16-55 , as a good zoom to have when I’m out with kids.

@carvl yes the 16-55mm f2.8 is a great lens and will give you the versatility you need for composition with different and changing subjects.
