The photo shows my brother just before lunch sitting on one of the seats erected to commemorate my dad when he died in 1987. He died before the Berlin wall came down, before the fall of communism in eastern Europe, and the end of the USSR. Mobile phones were just coming in. He ran a job creation scheme for the National Trust in South Devon in his last years. This is Bolberry Down in the South Hams.
