The Pike Tower is a Grade II listed building on the summit. Built in 1733 on the site of an ancient beacon using its stone for the foundations. It was built as a hunting lodge. Square in plan with sides 16 feet (4.9 m) in length and 20 feet (6.1 m) high, it was built with a wooden roof, three windows and a door all of which are now blocked up.
Thank you for the follow, which I have reciprocated, but I should warn you that I do not post very frequently these days. I spent my childhood in Manchester and in the 60's, before the M6 was finished, we would drive to the Lake District for our holidays and we would always stop for a picnic here. Thank you for reminding me of a bit of my childhood.
