Rudesheim, Germany. by gamelee

Rudesheim, Germany.

Taken from the Niederwald Monument viewpoint. There once stood a bridge that spanned the river. The Hindenburg Bridge, it was a railway bridge over the Rhine between Rüdesheim and Bingen-Kempten. The bridge was put in service in 1915, destroyed in the Second World War and never rebuilt.
Beautiful view! Once upon a time, I got to take a boat ride down the Rhine all the way to the point of the Lorelei. That was way back in the early 60s. So many beautiful sights to see! I remember seeing the Rat Tower in the middle of the river and the story that went along with it.
