White Crowned Sparrow by gardencat

White Crowned Sparrow

Another new sparrow in the area today. It's very similar to yesterdays white-throated sparrow, but without the yellow splashes on it's head. The trusty internet once again supplied it's identification for me, as a white crowned sparrow.
Another little beauty, and again far more colourful than ours. Just had an evil idea. Think I need to wander around garden with wet paint brushes.

@markp Shades of the red queen painting the white roses, in her garden, red. But don't be sad...you have many wonderful pictures of birds I've never even seen.

Hi Joanne, you are not going to believe this but this morning I was deciding to go out to one of two local reserves. One you need a permit for, which I have got, but I decided against going there and went to an open to the public one.
While there I was talking to another birder, who told me that at the reserve I had decided not to visit, there was quite a lot of activity. Apparently there was a very rare vagrant there, it must have been blown off course during migration.
It was only a White Crowned Sparrow !!
I have not been to try and see it yet, if it hangs around I might get time Thurs /Fri.

Haha, and no I haven't been out with paintbrushes.

@markp What a coincidence! Poor sparrow may end up lonely if it is the only one over your way.
I haven't seen the white crowned or the white throated sparrow around here the last couple of days. Not sure if they have both migrated on to other areas or if I've just been looking at the wrong times.
