The bluejay was not impressed. I usually put out a mix of sunflower seeds, peanuts, and other small seeds for the variety of birds that come to the feeders. Peanuts in the shell are definitely the favourites of the jays, but I've run out of peanuts this week. This guy sat there for several minutes looking pointedly at the backdoor of the house as if he were waiting for me to come out and fix the obvious deficit, before deigning to help himself to a few of the lowly sunflower seeds.
He's beautiful! I find them so difficult to photograph as they never hold still. I hear one calling in the yard. He's here for the apples. Just haven't spotted him yet.
