It begins with the tree peonies and, once one variety starts opening, the others follow very quickly.
This is a red variety but, unfortunately, I can't tell you it's name as it was supposed to be something else ( a purplish pink one). It was shipped to me as a little stick and, it wasn't till it bloomed for the first time, a year and a half later, that the mistake became apparent. The nursery offered to replace it, if I sent it back, but at that point, after having watched it through two winters I couldn't bear to dig it up and wait for the new one to mature. It is quite lovey but doesn't quite fit the garden's colour theme.
