Above all,
we must realize that no
arsenal or no weapon in
the arsenals of the world
is so formidable as
the will and moral courage
of free men and women.

2018 marks the Centennial Commemoration of the end of World War I on November 11, 1918. The theme for the 2018 Veterans Day poster is: "The War to End All Wars" and features a poppy and barbed wire. It can be seen on the first link below.
On Veterans Day we are honoring all who have served. Unfortunately, our Veterans Parade has been cancelled due to the hazardous air quality in Sacramento. The air quality index is at 444 today due to the Camp Fire north of us. There are six big fires raging in California again. It has been so devastating. Each year the fires get worse and worse.
An awesome capture with wonderful words paying tribute. FAV Those fires are devastating, we had six major ones here, which took over two weeks to put out. Many have lost everything including lives. So sad and tragic :-(
@joysfocus Oh Joy! These fires are so tragic! Paradise is 90% gone where you lived! And I am originally from SoCal. My parents lived in Malibu for many years and a place there also called Paradise burned as well. Two places are no longer Paradise and it makes me so sad for the residents, the animals and their homes.
It's been beyond heartbreaking, Cathee... Ken and I were talking about it this evening, knowing you're nearby, and Joy, who's not far from Turlock. I have no words...
@Weezilou Louise...there is a place called Paradise in Malibu and the town of Paradise in NorCal. Both places burned to the ground. Joy told me she lived in Paradise when she worked in Chico, which is where the fire is headed. My parents lived on Point Dume in Malibu and the fire entered but spared the place where my parents once lived. My brother has tenants that evacuated and it took them 6 hours to drive to Brentwood, normally a 30 minute trip! Mother Nature is wrecking havoc and it’s horrific!
@gardenfolk It's so tragic. All the fires. I didn't know there was a Paradise in Malibu. I'm living in Stanislaus County now. Smoke mixed with fog today was to bad they closed the University and the schools. Supposed to be better tomorrow.
