Still on Day 6...After having lunch at The Brown Hotel, we visited Churchill Down grounds and museum. Then on our drive to Bardstown, our next stop, we drove passed the Jim Beam American Stillhouse, where they give tours and tastings. It is one of the Bourbon stops on the famous Bourbon Trail in this part of Kentucky. Jim Beam is the world's best selling bourbon brand.

Lightening sparked a fire to a Jim Beam warehouse on July 2, destroying 45,000 barrels of bourbon. Runoff from the blaze contaminated nearby waterways and Jim Beam will also have to pay fines for the loss of fish and wildlife.

Great photo from the car. Sorry we didn’t have enough time to tour Jim Beam too. So sad about the lightening strike. That’s a lot of bourbon lost.

A perfect piece of sculpture. Hadn't heard that they will be fined for the contamination caused by the fire.

Great shot and a great place to visit. I remember Jim Beam though I have never tasted it. That was when I worked as a Customs Officer in a Bonded Warehouse.

Love Jim Beam 😁
Seems a bit unfair that they are fined for an event of nature...and shame about the lost barrels 🙄

Interesting that the letters were screened back in the siding of the building. I didn't notice that when we were there.

The red really makes the scene pop. I like the windy feel of the statue.

@Weezilou Oh Louise! I was just thinking about you. You back in CA? I was so overwhelmed with all the photos from this trip that I didn't post the photos from Ohio/Kentucky until 2 months after I returned home...almost 3,000 in one week. Yikes! I was there is April but posted in July and August. Hope all is well with you and yours! :)

@gardenfolk I totally get it! I've kept my summer photos to a minimum as we're heading to Europe in mid-September, and I return with numbers, much the same as yours, I'm sure! We'll never be bored, will we?!

@Weezilou No, we are not bored, Louise! Far from it. How exciting...Europe! What countries?
