Nestled below the towering Sierra Buttes are Upper and Lower Sardine Lakes. This is Upper Sardine Lake.
To get there, you need to walk up a very rocky dirt road (like a river bed) for about 1/2 mile in the sun. Upper Sardine Lake is often overlooked because of the easy access to Lower Sardine Lake.
However, it is just as beautiful with the buttes jutting out of the lake at the far end. Another hiker commented on how low the lake was at the moment. Let's hope for some good rain this winter.
