I took a walk with a friend along the American River in Newcastle, California. It was a beautiful day. We were looking for Avery's Pond but the trail was unmarked and hard to find. So instead we walked along the river. The water level was very low. We need some rain.
Nice on Black.

The walk with nature will only work if your eyes are open! Wonderful scene here - eyes don't need to be open for this one! fav

Great shot. You certainly could do with some extra water.

Lovely pic! I went to UC Davis so I spent some time on the American River

Lovely lines on the river banks... this is the way our lake gets every winter but it is because the water is released at the dam to lower the levels. Hope you get some rain.

@photographycrazy My son graduated from UC Davis. He met his future wife the first week of college and they got engaged in graduation day. Married now for 13 years with 3 boys. :)

@kvphoto This part of the river is above Folsom Dam. The American River and Folsom Lake are both very low. Water is such an issue in California.

@maggiemae Thank you, Maggiemae! It was a lovely day though we never found the pond! Had lunch afterwards and walked the shops in old town Auburn.

We had a lovely day though we never found Avery’s Pond...no markings on the trail. We made the best of it and walked the river for close to 3 miles. Then had lunch and walked the cute shops in Old Town Auburn where the John Travolta movie, Phenomenon, was filmed in 1996.

@gardenfolk We've had some droughts in Georgia but the past few years have been very rainy. There is an ongoing lawsuit between Florida & Georgia about water that has been going on for over 30 years... https://www.npr.org/2020/01/02/793134337/supreme-court-to-take-up-legal-battle-over-water-between-florida-and-georgia

@kvphoto Interesting dilemma. We all need water.
I think there is a war also between Northern California and Southern California over water. They want to divert more water from Northern CA but there isn't any extra to give...and northern CA grows more produce orchards and crops.
