This was a Grevy's zebra, the largest of the zebra species, from the Smithsonian National Zoo in Maryland. The zebra stripes are some of the most distinct markers in the animal kingdom. Like a human being's fingerprints, no two sets of zebra stripes are exactly alike.
I mostly saw the rear ends of the zoo animals, if I saw them at all. I was most excited to see the Giant Pandas and again all I got was a derriere photo. So, this was my best photo from the zoo. Nice on Black.
After the zoo closed, we ate at Duke's Counter across the street. Delicious food and a chance to sit and rest. After dinner, I seemed to rejuvenate and be up to more nighttime walking.
