The Washington Monument honors George Washington, hero of the American Revolution and the first president of the United States. Again, I found it more impressive in person vs. seeing it on TV and in the news. This is the view across Tidal Basin from the Jefferson Memorial.
It was fun to be out at night after the museums closed. Lots of tours, tourists and groups of students out and about and enjoying the memorials. We never felt unsafe. Great weather too.
The monuments are beautiful at night. They’ve got the lighting down perfectly. Looking at this takes me back to the first time I was in DC. It was a class trip in grade school. The monuments were so impressive and breathtaking. 😊
