This song was pretty catchy at first, but then it lost its touch a little bit, it became more like a mundane story. But, anyway I think Keane was referring to world leaders, how ordinary people will bring them selves to leaders one day. How some leaders become tryants/evil (someone will cast a spell on you), this could be because of a number of reasons. And like all leaders, the bad ones are much more likely to fall. so VOTE WISELY!
