~ the "Pale Man" came from Guillermo del Toro's own imagination. However, the character was heavily influenced by Goya's painting 'Saturn Devouring his Son'.
You can see the painting here:
Ofelia claims that she ate the two grapes because she didn't think they would be missed. One can draw certain parallels to the biblical story of the Garden of Eden. However, she appeared to be in a sort of trance with the forbidden fruit acting as a sort of a Siren's Song.
Pan's Labyrinth (2006) the child-eating 'Pale Man' Played by Doug Jones
... aka "El laberinto del fauno" - Mexico (original title)
... aka "The Labyrinth of the Faun" - International (English title)(informal literal title)
Wicked skills, Jaydee, and a nice nod to an awesome movie! I hadn't seen Goya's painting in awhile...one of the more disturbing images out there I think!
Right on target!! As soon as I saw this photo my first thought was Pan's Labyrinth, then I clicked on it and I was like oh makes perfect sense! :) Awesome job!!
This is really cool and I absolutely loved that movie. I do have one small critique. I wish that you were wearing something a little more plain (or perhaps shirtless as the pale man was in the movie) in the photo as I feel the big logo on the hoodie detracts/distracts from it.
