My husband helped me with this photo ... he did the light painting with the sparkler while I took the shot. We were both quite happy we only had to take one shot because the temperature here in San Antonio has already dropped down below freezing.
I'm impressed! This came out so well. The "deep south" is also taking quite a hit from the cold - supposed to be 11 here in the morning. Happy New Year!
Wow, great job with such a creative shot! Happy New Year, Gayle! Stay warm, hard to believe it's that cold in Texas! -12 here in Iowa right now without the wind chill factor
You should both be very happy with this, it is Great!! cant imagine being that cold...I am sitting under the Air. Con. it's 32 C at the moment here...Happy new year....
Well done Gayle. I thought about doing this but didn't get my act together and I didn't have to worry about freezing conditions. Happy New Year to you too :)
This is awesome! Great job by you and your husband. It is soooo cold up here in Connecticut, but I had no idea it was that cold in Texas. Happy New Year to you!
@helenhall Thank you so much, Helen! We practiced earlier in the day and had rocks situated so in the dark my husband would know where to stand for each number. I used the 'bulb mode' for the exposure setting, which my brother-in-law had given me a lesson on when we shot fireworks on Canada Day in July, and it worked great. As I mentioned above, we were thrilled to get a decent shot the first time. :-)
I'm smiling as I imagine you and your hubby setting out the rocks in preparation for the later photoshoot! Good idea though. It works really well, and I like the ghostly image of your hubby coming through the dark! It's interesting to note that that night, San Antonio had the same night-time temperature as our village in Scotland! Bizarre!
