Hearts

I've tried to make my own bokeh shape filter for my camera lens and it was a disaster so I bought a bokeh kit that has a selection of small discs with different shapes cut out. The discs slip into a lens cover that is included in the set. Today I had fun experimenting with the heart shape. :-)

This is amazing! How fun to have bokeh templates! I look forward to your bokeh shots!

This looks like a great success. I'm not sure I understand how they work. How do you end up with anything else in the picture if most of the lens is covered up?

This is so much fun Gayle!

Lovely shot Gayle. Your kit sounds much easier than playing around with paper punches as I did today. Can you give me the details of the kit?

@merrelyn Hi, Merrelyn! Thanks so much for commenting! The name of the kit is ‘DIYP Bokeh Masters Kit’ ... here’s a link to the set I bought online from B&H Photo in New York...you can also get the set on Amazon. I bought the set that has 21 custom shaped discs and 8 blank discs to cut your own patterns from but there’s a larger set available with 72 discs. It’s incredibly easy to use and I’m very happy with the results from the heart shape disc. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/745168-REG/Bokeh_MASTERS_EDITION_Bokeh_Masters_Kit.html

This turned out great! Well done. I have tried rather unsuccessfully to make my own too. I think you may have convinced me to buy a kit.

@fntngrma Thank you so much for your comment and fav, Rosan! I am very happy with this kit...today I played around with a couple of the other shapes and they worked just as well as the heart shape. It's so easy with these discs to get a nice bokeh shape which I definitely appreciate after I tried several times to make my own and ended up so frustrated with the terrible results. :-)
