Beautiful and graceful, varied and enchanting, small but approachable, butterflies lead you to the sunny side of life. And everyone deserves a little sunshine. ~ Jeffrey Glassberg
Hope you enjoyed a little sunshine today!
I looked through a bunch of photos but couldn't identify this little guy. Anyone have any idea?? -- Thanks to Mannie, it has been identified as a question mark butterfly,
Beautiful picture, well composed and great detail. I love the texture of the background as well. It looks like it's a question mark butterfly, named for a marking on the underside of its wing. That butterfly is also similar to one called an Eastern comma of all things. Who knew butterflies were punctuated? http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species/Polygonia-interrogationis
By the way, Kim, I've been to Osawatomie a bunch of times! We live about an hour apart. I'm also the secretary for the Kanza Rail-Trails Conservency, overseeing decisions made about the Flint Hills Nature Trail which starts at Osawatomie and ends 117 miles later in Herington. The trail is an awesome photo-taking opportunity, by the way, if you haven't discovered it yet. :)
