The Burning House

Deyvid, my get pushed partner, challenged me to take a "burning house" photo. In the picture include anything you would save if your house caught on fire.
For examples

It goes without saying I would alert my husband, but he wasn't available for the photo shoot. So, clockwise from bottom left, any grandchildren that might be visiting and their photos, my notebook with original ancestor pictures (I actually have two cabinets full of research), my collection of quilts made by my great-grandmothers, my purse of the moment with my identification papers and keys, my wedding photo album, my CD with saved genealogy files, my mother's pink baby blanket, and (in the frame) the star doily a great-grandmother crocheted.

This is quite a different arrangement than the examples the students posted. My items are those that can't be replaced, so there isn't any electronic equipment.

This challenge made me realize I need to be better prepared for an emergency. A new home in our neighboring town was struck by lightning this week during a storm and totally destroyed. The occupants fled after being alerted by a neighbor that the roof was on fire.
@d_lopes Deyvid, here is my image for your "burning house" challenge. As I mentioned above, no electronics like most of the examples showed because those can be replaced. I went with family keepsakes. Thanks, this was a very thought-provoking challenge and I'm sure I've missed something important..

Fabulous collection of memories. I'd probably have to take my laptop because many of my pictures are stored on it. But, most of our prized possessions are too big to carry out. I think I'd just be happy to get my family out. One of our friends from Boy Scouts lost their youngest son in a house fire about 4 years ago. Such a tragedy.

Wonderful composition!!! Everything that I too would have saved! Yes, we have Ancestry files and photos too. I would save my entire, huge, box of photo albums and home made gifts. I like the idea you wouldn't take any electronic things, the others cannot be replaced. I really love how you presented the items and made a beautiful still life of them.

In bushfire prone parts of Oz we need to evaluate these things each summer. Items that money can't buy are top of the list for me. I guess you have your genealogy files saved and stored at a friend or relative's home in any case. this is a meaningful composition.

What a cool challenge this is. Thanks for sharing. When our neighbor's house - some walking distance from ours - caught fire two years ago, I only have my son's stuffs kept in a safe distance, after that, we stared in shock and prayed for everything to go well. This shot makes me realize we need to evaluate the things that matters.
