façade

This is the beautiful front of 'City café Vancouver', situated in one of the most beautifully decorated buildings in Coevorden, a city in the south-east of our province. The house was built by a rich merchant. The gorgeous nature stone façade dates from 1631. The style of the ornaments is Dutch Renaissance. The wise saws from that time still can be read.
The city of Coevorden may have indirectly given its name to the city of Vancouver, which is named after the 18th-century British explorer George Vancouver. The explorer's ancestors (and family name) may have originally come to England "from Coevorden" (van Coevorden > Vancoevorden > Vancouver).
Beautifully ornate:)

Such an elaborate facade. The central figure looks a bit out of place to me. Is she original?
