The Tuncurry pelicans had a battle for a piece of fish thrown to them by a fisherman. At top right, the successful pelican almost stands on its tail to get away; bottom left it jiggles the fish down its throat; bottom right it sails away, trying to look dignified, to digest its meal in private, with the shape of the fish clearly distending its neck and beak.
I used to work in a seafood restaurant on a working harbour and this is a sight we would see daily. They are so lazy that spend more time chasing a bird with a fish than actaully do the hunting!
Catching up on comments, Robin. I see I have missed quite a few of yours. This is an excellent collage. Pelicans are so fascinating to watch. Love that you were able to record the entire sequence.
A real photo story. Very nice collage of all the happenings and each is a beautiful picture.
