Lorikeet in Bottlebrush by girlie

Lorikeet in Bottlebrush

My son announced that he'd seen a flock of lorikeets descend on the Bottlebrush across the road yesterday. Rushed out with the camera and took about 65 shots; only this one is worth posting. They didn't want to pose and were far too interested in their evening meal. This one is a Scaly-breasted Lorikeet, so called because the markings on the chest that you can see resemble fish scales. There were a couple of Rainbow Lorikeets amongst them but they were having a hard time from the Scaly-breasteds who squawked and flapped at them when they went for the nectar. Lorikeets seem to love Bottlebrushes more than any other flower. Every morning we are woken by the screaming and squawking they make in the trees that line our roads. Doesn't bother me; I love it.
This is simply beautiful - the POV - the colors - the clarity - excellent shot!!
