'No room for me!' this little piglet seemed to be complaining. I stopped to check out a roadside free-range piggery the other day and saw this big sow lie down, bury her nose in the straw and offer up the dining table for her dozen little black piglets. This little ginger-coloured piglet tried to muscle in on the action but arrived too late.
Had to fav! Love that the poor thing is the only one that colour. IT looks so cute, but I guess one has to remember that it's either going to grow up as big as its mom, or as big as the rasher on one's plate...
@scatcat@okavangohippo@ruthmouch If he belonged to this sow, he must have been from another litter as he was bigger than the black piglets. I noticed that every time another sow, either of his colour or not, lay down to feed her brood, this one tried to muscle in. He did succeed a couple of times - persistence won in the end.
@bobfoto Yep, I think he belongs either to one of the other sows of similar colour, or is an orphan, probably the former. He was so busy, whenever I saw him, trying to muscle in on the action with any sow that lay down for her piglets; maybe he is just a greedy little beggar.
