Yesterday I had a tree frog visit for Christmas. Today this Rainbow Lorikeet dropped in to my garden to feast on the Pohutekawa (New Zealand Christmas Tree) blossom on my trees beside the house. I love their red eyes and red beaks, which are hard to distinguish from the red of the flowers.
lovely visitor - I don't see lorikeets in Canberra but I saw a few when I was on Phillip Island (got back to Canberra late this afternoon, after driving all day)
Beautifully captured. I tried to take a photo of some of these in our palm trees that are flowering at the moment but they were to quick for me...next time. It looks like we have a similar liking for the same sort of photography :-)
@turning_40 Yes, I've noticed that as I go through your calendar. I actually have one of some lorikeets in our Bangalow palm somewhere in my project, a few months ago. They were hanging all up and down the strands of seeds. Not a great shot as they flew away when I got too near but they looked gorgeous, the way they hung there, like coloured ornaments.
