Kangaroo Paws by girlie

Kangaroo Paws

I saw these beautiful Kangaroo Paw flowers at Coffs Harbour Botanical Gardens today. They are native to Western Australia but very popular in gardens all over the continent. They come in various colours but in the wild can only be seen in red and green.
View with the magnifier to see their furry bracts.
They look like little dancing Mexican men in sombreros...fabulous hot

@swilde Thanks, Sue. You're right! Or they could be Can Can dancers!

I see these here in my street but had not noticed the flower opens like that. I thought the velvety red was the flower. Will have a closer look next time.

I can see the dancing guys in hats too. Never thought of them that way. This is another shot that needs to be seen full screen to be appreciated. Fantastic colour & clarity. Fav'ed

AH, my dear down-under friend!! What a vibrant, exciting shot. Robin, how can I thank you for your support and encouragement through the year? Your kind remarks on my end of project slideshow had me a bit choked up. I hope you know that it's people like you on 365 who really opened up my world. And I PROMISE that someday I'm going to get to come and see all the beauty you've shared with me. XX
