Another one taken the other day when I had my camera with me for a change. Australian pelicans, with their massive wingspan and huge bills, are stunning birds in flight and I was pleased to be able to capture this one above the boats in the Iluka marina.
Cool. What a great capture. I was amzed when i saw these birds for the first time in Queensland. I had no idea they even lived in Australia, and there they were casually haning out on the canals.
@carolinedreams That's interesting; I had no idea there were no kiwi pelicans! When I Googled, I found this article about some Aussie pelicans setting up residence in NZ at Wairoa River. @girlie Oh how interesting. I very rarely travel to the Kaipara though I have old firends up there. However it's very cool to see pelicans so I may have to add it into an Auckland trip at some point.
