The drill hall by golftragic

The drill hall

Front view of the Geelong. Army Reserve Drill Hall. Like many of the old buildings in this town the drill hall is build of weatherboard cut from Otway timber.
I love the richness of color in this shot. There's so much to see and appreciate!

@voiceprintz Many thanks. The old buildings left in this town are a great resource for we photographers.

@pamknowler Thanks Pam, it's an extensive building and I'll try to post another shot in the near future to give some idea of the scale.

What a magnificent building. I just love the old chimney. Is this HDR?
September 3rd, 2014
@onewing Yes Babs, it's HDR. I've always enjoyed that technique, apart from anything else it can be used to lift the textures 'off the page'.
September 3rd, 2014
@golftragic We've got a chap at our photo club who does a lot of HDR and it is so overdone it put me off, but your shots are brilliant and I am now a convert. Yours are a bit like Goldilocks porridge, just right.
September 3rd, 2014
@onewing Aw gee, thanks Babs. I've certainly seen some awfully overdone HDR stuff. But there's a whole spectrum open to us all in there. Perhaps one of the 'tricks' is to try to capture the ambience of the shot you're working with. PS I love porridge.
