Lotsa lemons

There are some lovely old buildings in central Geelong, many of them converted into professional offices or the like. I'd never noticed this beauty from the road, but the view from a back lane was quite impressive.
What a lovely old building. I am sure they won't miss a few lemons either.

That must have been one big family in its "home" days. Nice architectural shot!

@onewing I'm sure there are plenty that disappear from that tree. We have lemons running out the ears in our garden, so no temptation for me.

@olivetreeann Yes, you're right. A very posh home too!

the arches are rather very attractive. they sure don't make houses like that anymore. and when they do, it's plastic! that's a lot of lemons!

@summerfield We have two different varieties of lemon in our back garden and it always seems to be boom or bust. Fortunately, they seem to alternate.

Lovely architectural shot! Beautiful surroundings.

Almost looks Italian. Glad that they're being used and not torn down.

@joysabin A fair few were demolished before the penny dropped about their heritage value.

@haskar Absolutely. I'd hate to have to pay the heating/cooling bills though.

Sure is a nice building and lemon tree

I like the deep patio on the building, looks shady in summer

What a beautiful sight, never thought of Australia as growing lemons before!

Terrific - and where did that blue sky come from?

A fabulous crop of lemons and beautiful architecture :)

Love the colonial style of this old house...

What a lovely house and such a huge lemon tree!

An amazing verandah on the second storey! Be wonderful in hot temperatures! Sit here with a gin and lots of lemon!

The perspective made the lemon tree as big as the house.

@dianeb Yes, it's a beauty, and I strongly suspect that what is now the back may have been the original front.
September 14th, 2018
@dibzgreasley Yes, it faces north so would be beaut in summer. I suspect that this aspect, now the back, may have been the original front of this building. Will have to check out the south side though.

@fbailey Oh yes, a large proportion of the population with gardens have lemon trees, some have grapefruit and even oranges and mandarins too.

@gilbertwood Probably blew in in front of the awful winds we've had today!
September 14th, 2018
@hermann I just wish I could've got a better view, but there was a paling fence (covered in various signs) in the way.
September 14th, 2018
@vignouse I thought it was very elegant and would love to get a closer look at it.
September 14th, 2018
@merrelyn They're both beauties aren't they?
September 14th, 2018
@maggiemae It faces north so would definitely be a great spot for a summer g&t in the shade up there surveying one's kingdom.
September 14th, 2018
@yaorenliu You're right! It was pretty big, but only about one-storey high.
September 14th, 2018
@golftragic Did they have kings in those days? I guess some socially inclined ladies would have thought so!
September 14th, 2018
@maggiemae Well I guess we're talking wool 'barons' - and their undoubtedly snotty 'ladies'.

Love the beautiful verandahs
