Happy Hiroshi by golftragic

Happy Hiroshi

Hiroshi is the on-course cart drinks/eats person on Wednesdays (big comp day, hundreds of people play). He must be the happiest cart-person I've ever met, his smile lights up the day. Members were rapt to hear Hiroshi had recently been awarded Employee of the Quarter.
Well that's pretty cool.. goes he deliver wine and beer or just water.. he looks happy in his work..

@julzmaioro I suspect you can buy cans of beer and RTDs but don't really know, never drink alcohol on the golf course, need all my wits about me. Can definitely get soft drinks, water, chocky bars, sangers and wraps, plus pies, pasties and sausage rolls in the cold weather. We take all our own eats and drinks for the course, saves heaps.

Great that he got an award - he obviously enjoys his work. A lovely image of his big smile.

@dide @robz I totally agree, the staff value these awards and everyone, ground staff, office, front-desk, bar etc has an equal chance. And Hiroshi is such a joy to have around the place.

@gilbertwood So we bloody well should, the fees are horrendous. We budget all year for our fees which include an annual fee for the use of an electric golf-cart (only available with appropriate medical certificates).

@hermann A very welcome service for many people Sally, especially the green-fee (non-members paying for a round) who are on the alternate course to the members (switches round daily). A lot of people buy all sorts of things but we bring all our own from home and only buy the odd cold drink on an blistering day.

@merrelyn @haskar Absolutely!!

Well, as others have said, it's obvious from his smile that he really enjoys his job. I don't know if golfers here have snacks and food while they play. I guess they do- who knows! Nice portrait shot!

@olivetreeann This golf club is rather different from the majority in many ways, including the gender equality I've been talking about. It is also run as a profit-making enterprise, especially from social/green-fee (non-member) players. We have two courses, both of which are in the Top 50 in Australia, alternating daily between members and green-fee players. The cart-service makes a great deal of money from the latter who are paying a lot of money and want a good day out. Lots of members buy plenty from the cart too, particularly the blokes. The women mostly bring what they want for on-course then eat and drink whatever in the clubhouse later.

@olivetreeann Hiroshi is also keeping an eye out for slow groups of players, though the Course Marshal is the one who'll give 'em a real rev.

Your golf course sounds a rather special one... but I'd expect nothing less from you!
