27/100 The cook by golftragic

27/100 The cook

This woman cooked up an amazing banquet for the 14 of us at Aliya Resort. Heavily processed, the (very low-light) original was not good, but I wanted to capture her image somehow.

Re 100 strangers, I noted her name, but have lost the note somewhere.
Superb edit. I like this a lot!

Terrific lighting and processing

@domenicododaro Thank you Domenico. I was just about ready to give up on doing anything with this one, a very poor soft shot. Powerful software does amazing things.

@fbailey Thanks FB. It was almost dark in there with just candles on our table. Despite my best efforts the image was very soft, thank goodness for powerful software.

I think that the low soft light suggests to us of how she wished to stay out of the spotlight, just do her art in the kitchen. I happen to have a large soft spot for sepia.

I think you do fantastic on your processing gives a sense of just let me do my thing in the kitchen I am not a super star - bet her food was

Your processing creates a mood that goes above simply a portrait. I think it works well.

Great portrait Marnie! She looks so shy and it’s as if you have captured her as she peeped out! Superb processing!

LOvely photo. I like the sepia, or whatever the coloring. It has the feel of an authentic old photo. She has quite an elegant and honest appearance. A fav

Hope the food was delicious :)

@joysabin Thanks Joy, you may well be right, but I also think she was waiting on all of us to get our backsides on chairs so she could dish up.

@samae My food's certainly not super-star. Her food was fantastic, and the setting fabulous.

@taffy My heartfelt thanks Taffy. I was very disappointed with the image/s, they were soft and pretty ordinary, to say the least. I've junked a lot of similarly poor efforts but really wanted to record this woman. I need to know a great deal more about low-light photography!!

@pamknowler Not sure whether she was peeping or just waiting for all of us to get our backsides on chairs. I did have a brief, and very language-challenged conversation with her, pity we couldn't have talked more.

@mbrutus Thank you very much. I talked to her as much as our language barrier permitted, pity we couldn't communicate very much. She was clearly waiting on all of our group to get settled at the table.

@gilbertwood Better than delicious!!!!

Great portrait. Lovely light.

A lovely candid :)

I like your processing - it gives us a nice overall impression of her even though the original had poor light.
